Inkosi lock-up issue

Just got this Inkosi in yesterday, and first thing I noticed was how "floppy" the lock bar was. After messing with it for a bit, I noticed a bit of lock rock which led me to see how out of whack the lock up is. Just wondering if anybody else has seen something similar on their inkosi? Luckily the place I purchased it from has amazing customer service and shipped me a new one out yesterday with a return label for this one (I won't post their name here, but if you are that curious PM me and I'll fill you in).

Disclaimer: This is NOT A KNOCK ON CRK KNIVES. I am in no way insinuating that they are slipping, this is just a discussion topic. In the same box yesterday was a brand new small 21 with bog oak inlay that I am absolutely in love with. I will post a picture of this later once I'm not under fluorescent light.

Did the lockbar go over there on it's own when you opened the knife or did you push it over there with your thumb?

It was maybe a half a MM away from that spot just "naturally" when opening the knife. I gripped it and was testing out the feel in the hand when I felt the lock bar slip and that is where it ended up. I didn't actively press on the lock bar to get it to go over that far.

That does seem unusual. So like with the Inkosi because of the way the ceramic ball interface is supposed to work they are a bit easier to push over with your thumb until they wear the groove in the tang like they are supposed to, when compared to a 21, but if the knife itself is opening in almost the 100% lockup position from the start, it tells me they hay have goofed by a 100th of a mm somewhere. It's definitely not a complaint I have seen anywhere else yet, on this forum or any others.

When you get the new one, be very careful how you open it and double check to ensure you're not adding any extra pressure. Either way I have to push SUPER hard on both of my Inkosis to FORCE them into that position you have pictured. I'm thinking this may not be a case of operator error, and a great reason why it helps to buy from an authorized retailer.

Out of personal curiosity, what was the DOB on this one? I wonder if it coincides when they were having some minor issues with things slipping through before they made changes.

I'll have to double check on the DOB when I get home, but I am fairly certain it was from June or July of '16. Only just getting back into CRKs I'm not familiar with the "story" behind possible QC issues, I just thought this was interesting. I can't wait to get the new one in, I was assured from the dealer that the replacement is perfect.

I ordered a small inkosi a few months back from an authorized dealer as well, and had the same thing happen. It had lock rock and the lock bar would travel all the way to the other scale just by gripping the knife a little tighter. I sent it back and didn't bother with a new one because it didn't fit my hand quite as nicely as a small either.

Hope your new one checks out!
