Have looked over my collection and noticed that those khukuris with inlaid work in the handles have not cracked, whether the handle material is horn or wood. Given that the humidity in my apartment is quite variable, I am surprised and pleased with this. I think that the areas where the inlays are tend to act as stress relievers for the handle in addition to the possibility that the handle material is well cured. Has this been the experience with other khukuri owners?
