Does anyone know how the jewels used in the decorated sebbie's are held in? If I carry it can I expect it to come out or lose after some time? Any information would be great. RW

Stone inlays are epoxyed in and will not come out.

I was under the impression that the inlays wereamchined out and then anodised different colours, i didn't think the had stones in them. I'm probably wrong, can anybody clear this up?

Is anyone sure if they are epoxied in or not, because epoxy seems like the best way to go for stability....

James - Decorated Sebenzas are available with various round jewel cabochons inset into an enlarged hole. This hole is typically countersunk and annodized. The price of the knife depends upon the jewel selected, ranging from $20-$50 above the basic price of an inlaid Sebenza. Some of the cabochon choices include: star sapphire, iolite, amber, almandine garnet, mother of pearl...

James and jki are absolutely correct. The inlays are epoxied into the machined area. In addition to the listed cabochons, we also offer amethyst and citrine. I spoke with Scott Cook, our shop foreman, and he said that to his knowledge none of the inlay knives has ever come back due to the stone falling out. Not to say that it will NEVER happen, but none to date.
Thanks,
Mark
