Inlaying Stones/Gems

I'm thinking about "tinkering" with some of my plain handled knives, i.e., drilling some "FIZZ" holes, maybe some polishing and I'm thinking of attempting to inlay some type of stone or gem into one or two of the knives. My question is, what adhesive would be recommended for holding the stones in place? I would be chamfering the holes. It's summertime, it's hot as hell outside and looking for something to do inside where it's cool.

Properly set gemstones are always set in metal and held with prongs. The metal mounting should be mechanically attached to the knife.
