I have a couple of Zaans, a couple large regs.and a few others, but nothing with inlays or micarta.

How much easier are CRKs with inlays or micarta to hold on to? Is there much of a difference?

They give a feeling as if they do, but I don't think there is a difference. You can hold both fine under any situation I could think of.

An hour ago I posted on another Sebenza thread:

"I have handled others including classics and Umnumzaans, and many with inlays. For ergonomics, I found micarta inlays are the greatest. They really enhance the grip. Many people don't like flat metal handles, and inlays eliminate that problem."

:)

The micarta inlays give a feel unlike any of the smooth woods/ivory options CRK has to offer. They are a little rough, and therefore slightly grippy (but is it THAT much more grippy than the bead blast ti? kinda...). They also do not get slippery when wet. At any rate, the greatest benefit is best said by Esav - "Many people don't like flat metal handles, and inlays eliminate that problem." If you are looking to really GRIP the knife, the micarta inlays help because of the extra width and the slightly rough material. That said, extra grip for some might not be the same amount for another. The same way one person's 10/10 is another person's 5/10. YMMV. I myself, and many others think it provides extra grip, but don't expect it to be glueing itself to your hands... Buy one and try it!

That said, they are pretty cool when wet. (:

Wood inlays, not so much. Micarta does, in my experience, add some extra grip though not enough to really write home about. The plain handles give plenty of grip for my uses.

I recently got a Small Insingo Micarta, it significantly improves my control compared to the small none inlay.

It's to bad the Chris Reeve doesn't make a senbenza with groves like these because in terms of twisting grip, it doesn't get any better. Maybe we can get him to put them on a 21 or 25.

I prefer the wood inlays, not sure why I just think it feels good in the hand and still offers grip.

I have yet to own a micarta inlay, but have some with the wood inlays. They do give a fuller grip vs the plain sided versions. But me being a CRK nut, I love both.

The inlayed one do offer a fuller grip and the micarta is definately grippier also the starbenza offers a better grip in the thinner profile.

I don't know how much more traction the micarta gives, but I much prefer it over a non-inlayed sebenza.
