Inlays vs. PJ -- Different Weights?

Hello all! I just picked up my first Sebenza (Small 31 Box Elder Inlays) and I noticed it weighs less than what the CRK website says for the Small Sebenzas -- mine is 2.75 oz and the website says 3 oz. I then realized they use 3 oz for all of the small sebenzas. So I guess my question is this -- have you noticed similar discrepancies in your inlays vs. plain janes? It would stand to reason that micarta or box elder would weigh less than the equivalent amount of titanium, but you'd think this would be reflected in their specs... Either way, let me know what you all think!

Thanks! :)

I think I’d never be tempted to weigh a knife 😀

But I’ve read before that the inlaid versions are lighter for the reasons you state.

Ha! Fair enough. I only did so out of curiosity ... it was much lighter than i was expecting and then started to check things out. :)

Hi op yes so I have a box elder small seb and it weighs less than the normal one. For that matter my large micarta seb weighs less than the normal. The thing is though my normal sebs are insingo while the inlay models are drop point. Not sure if that makes a difference but yes I’m noticing a 8 gram difference on the kitchen scale.

I have a plain large 21 and micarta inlayed large 31. The inlayed knife is noticeably lighter than the none inlayed one. I was very suprised just how light it felt. The weight coupled with its added mass from the inlays also makes it seem even lighter.

I’ve also discovered the the inlayed inkosi weighs the same as a plain sebenza. So even with the thicker blade of the inkosi you can have it weigh the same as a sebenza. Pretty neat

Especially if the inlay is CF.
