As my current occupation involves hosting operations for a number of large corporate servers & their networks, i find a HI kobra to be of benefit when decomissioning companies that are leaving us. cuts thru red tape, cat5 & fibre cables and other such. you do need to ensure the power leads have been unplugged from the hot end tho, otherwise you might get a surprise. not sure if the implimentation team goes along with this as i think they prefer we leave whole cables where possible for new customers coming in, but for some reason they don't seem to want to argue with me.
i have recommended the sartori approch for the servers themselves, but have been told the MOD (ministry of defense) will not certify the data destruction, so we are forced to use magnetic data destruction followed by acid baths for tapes and hard drives. shame, the sartori approach would be more fun, as the appproved method is done offsite by contractors who get to do all the neat stuff.
