Hey guys,

So I got an X5 over the Holidays and am thrilled with it; I figured I'd look at the other lights Inova has, since I've been strictly a Photon/CMG guy, up until now.

And on their web site, I saw the 24/7. It got a pretty good review on the LED museum, but looks like there hasn't been much said about it here or at CPF.

Does anyone have one? How carryable is it (it looks small and awkward shaped -- how WOULD you carry it)? Have you found a use for any of the "emergency" modes besides an actual emergency? (Don't really see the point of the multicolored ones, myself). Any other thoughts?

For those of you not familiar, two links:

Thanks a bunch,

It seems like a very cool light. I've handled one a couple of times, and have been tempted to buy one for my car.

It sure is a lot smaller than it looks on the internet. I'm sure you could either carry it on your belt or in a pocket with ease.

I don't think that it's the sort of light that you'd want to use as a primary flashlight. But, it would be a great thing to have if you had to go change a tire on a dark night, or if you got lost in the woods.

CountyComm has some red 24/7's, if color is important to you.

I haven't bought one because for the money, I'd rather get a nice LED headlamp, or possibly an eternalight deringer.

I don't think you could go wrong buying one, if it fits your purpose.

I bought a 24/7 on impulse, shopping at the PX. I'd heard of it, and I like my X5T, so I figured why not.

Not much to complain about yet, if they were cheaper I'd probably get one for each car and maybe a few other spots. The primary use for now is entertaining the kids with the "construction site" mode - the cool, slowly blinking red and yellow - or the "SWAT Team Rollout" emergency flasher mode. Haven't really carried it anywhere, I suppose the clip could work on a belt if you weren't concerned about how it looked.

I think it will eventually find its way into my "survival/camping" stash, it's a handy general purpose LED that does some useful signaling.

Definitely an odd beast, but cool, and that's what counts.

I just ordered one in yellow from 1SKS. TAD Gear has them in black, but black is a dumb color for a flashlight. How do you find it when you really need it? :)

I think it replaces those huge 8 D cell emergency flashlight/flashers they used to make for cars, with simple access to multifunction lighting. As a light for walking around the neighborhood, the X5 is much more responsive.

I will let you know when I get it.

That's my biggest (only) concern, right there -- I wear jeans 24/7, and if it would fit into a front pocket, it looks pretty ideal. If not, I have no use for it.

It's pretty cool. I use one when I want to read without keeping the missus awake late into the morning. Sizewize it's about the same as a pack of cigarettes - not something I'd carry daily as a primary illuminuator, but it's perfect for car use. I like the two brightness levels for the white light, and love the signalling aspects. All in all, I'm pretty impressed with it. I actually recommend it over the SureFire G2 for "have one everywhere" use now because of the tons of options it has (even though it isn't as bright).

Put two of them in "Emergency" mode in two corners of a dimly-lit room, crank up the stereo and you can rave till dawn!

4 lumens???

A mini-maglite has an output of 7 lumens, the X5 roughly 15 lumens....doesn't sound like much fun to me...

Although the form of the light and clip location do make it ideal for clipping onto the shoulder straps of a rucksack.

I wouldn't count on the X5 being 15 lumens. I mean, it only has 5 LED's where the 24/7 has 4.

Hey, Spark! Nice quick service -- I got my order in 4 days! :D I picked up the 24/7 and an X-1 also. Awesome addition to my glare potential :p

The 24/7 is a good deal. It is very easy to switch from one mode to the next, and they are even arranged logically. The white light modes of low light, bright light, blink, and blink SOS, are all pretty bright.

The mad flasher mode is blinding ... ... and would make a great emergency warning light on the side of the highway. Even the alternate red/yellow and just the two red LEDs will leave spots in front of your eyes -- and I'm playing with this in daylight.

It is heavier/more solid than it looks. The belt clip seems pretty strong. I think it will make a good addition to the glove compartment for just about any auto lighting needs. (But I'm gonna play with it in the streets at night so if you hear any good flying saucer stories from New Jersey, it's probably just me :D )

The X-1 is another nice light. It looks like the X5T's little brother, but the lens really focusses the beam in a strong, even spot. I've never seen a more sharp-edged spot. Very solid construction, big enough to handle easily with gloves on, with a lock-out tail cap.

This one I will be carrying everywhere and always in my Maxpedition M2 alongside the Victorinox Ranger.

I got one as another light for the truck. Intended just as a backup or for emrgencies but we haul it out all the time. Kids like the "raver" mode and the red comes in handy when we go out with the astronomy club. I'll probably get another to stash in my boat for emergencies.
Stay Safe,
Clyde
