Hi all,

Have any of you used this flashlight? I'd appreciate any comments. In particular, how bright is it compared to, say, a 2AA Maglite? (Candle power, or even simply, "it is not as bright as ..."/ "it is brighter than ...") Is there a difference in quality/illumination between the Inova Mini Floodlight's blue and white lights?

Here's a link, if you haven't seen it:

Thanks and best,

Glen

Thanks to all for the good info below. For those interested, I've posted a review of the Inova X5 in the Review forum:

Hi Storyville,

Go tho the LEDMuseum at: http://ledmuseum.home.att.net/ledleft.htm

On the left side scroll down and there you'll see "LED FLASHLIGHTS CR123 LITHIUM" header you'll find the Inova 5X report.
You can also see the light output compared with an ASP LS.

I'm hoping to be able to get my hand on one before the summer holiday, I'm just waiting if they'll make them with an tailcap pushbutton switch.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

Thanks for the link, Bagheera -- nice LED reviews of all sorts! The Inova review is very helpful, although it does not provide a comparison of the blue LED (apparently was not available, initially).

I'll probably pick up a white, and maybe a blue, soon. Will post my impressions when I do.

Thanks again and best,

Glen

It is my LED EDC for 2-10 feet illumination. Very competent light. I highly recommend it. Here are a few images.

No comparrison with the mag lights. The ML's are spot light and the Inova 5X is a flood light.
I have both the blue and the white Inova as well as a buch of the smaller mag-lites and even have a 6 cell M.L.
For the size of the Inova it puts out a whole bunch of light. With all the light off in my house I can light up a complete room with either the blue or the white light. The white light give more natural looking colors and the blue light makes all light colored surfaces seem to jump out into 3D. Get one of each if you can. They would be super for finding the latrine at night and they burn a hell of a lot longer then the AA's do.

Whoo hoo!!!

Just got home and guess what was waiting???

A package with my blue X-5, a white Stylus, a green Stylus, a red, white and blue/green Infinity and some Photon IIs - blue and red :D :D :D !!!

Of course I only get to keep the X-5, and possibly a Infinity, but it's fun just to play with them through the packages ;)

Have fun!

Javahead..how bout a little mini review..I have one on order too..and I'm itching to get ahold of mine

OK - here it is, my mini review...

HOLY SH*T THAT'S A BRIGHT LIGHT!!!

Pain factor is almost up there with my surefire.

Seriously - I am amazed how bright it is, even with the lights in the house on you can see the beam coming out, cutting through the air (and no - my house is not dusty). It sure does light up a whole room :D Very sturdy, perfect size, I love it.

Those are frontal and oblique shots - they don't even do the light justice on how bright it is.

More of a short range flood - lights up spots well across the yard but anything more than 15 meters washes out. Up close - WOW!!!

Funny thing - items that would glow under a black light also glow under this light...

Got my Infinity red led also. Not near as bright - but I've been wearing it around my neck all day - it just seems to belong there. This will be perfect for those map checks in the dark :D

Great lights - but it is crazy just how bright that X5 is - way cool!!!
