A couple of days ago I came across my Inova X5 (American Made Version)...I could have sworn it was lost forever...have not seen it in a couple of years. Still had a couple of Energizer 123s in it...no leakage and they are still there putting out plenty of light, I'll just use them up.
Finding the X5 reminded me of the great Inova quality and prompted me to head to Target and grab an X2 (2xAA light). Current Inova lights are made in China but as we know from Fenix and other brands, they can put out some excellent lights.
The X2's fit and finish seems right up there with the X5. It is a single LED with a good mix of flood and spot with a good throw. Runs on AA batteries with a 6 hour or so advertised runtime...supposed to be regulated but I cannot find any runtime graphs to see how long before it drops out of regulation.
Inova is not really known these days for being terribly innovative and I doubt they are as popular as Surefire or Fenix but they do make a heck of a light and they are very affordable. The X2 was about 35 bucks as Target...and the batteries are cheap cheap cheap.
I looked and found no reference to the X2 being used with AA Lithiums so I do not know whether they are safe or not. Does not really matter to me, I buy batteries (CR123 and AA) in bulk...not sure if I will ever use all the batteries I have.
