Not exactly a knife, but has anyone any experience with the Inova LED flashlight, which has five LED cells?
It sure looks cool. Is it a good buy?

Hey Thomas...

Simply....

It's Frigging Awesome...

Its no Surefire by any means,, as far as throwing light a distance,, but it does throw it pretty good..

Up close light is outstanding, and it won't eat batteries quite as bad as a SF...

Its worth the money for sure...

I like the Tactical model better than I do the regular..You'll like it..

I agree with Normark.

While definitely something short of a Surefire, its "brightness to battery time" has gotta put it up there with the best of 'em. Well worth the money.

I had one earlier, but I accidentally left it at home (7000 miles away :(). Now, all I've got is Surefires, and I find myself missing my Inova for those small lighting tasks. I keep blinding myself by using an E2e at close quarters. :)

But I might not be getting a new one. If I do, I would have spent close to 90 dollars on X5T's. I'll just wait until I get back home to reclaim my light. I'd rather get a new knife!

An Inova X5T for general lighting and survival purposes, and a Surefire E2E for those times when you need some throw, or a really bright close up light.

The good news is that they both eat Lithium CR123s and that an Inova will get hours of play from a pair of CR123s that won't fire up a Surefire anymore!

PS: To make your set complete, you need a AAA Arc LE for your keyring.

Nice lineup!! Be hard to think of a situation these wouldn't cover for your torch needs. Course a SF M2 or M3 would be nice...and maybe an Arc LS...and maybe a.... :D

my Inova X5T arrived a couple of weeks ago
and I was dissappointed...see previous
posts...then I figured it out!!! Now I
wouldn't be without it!!! Yes, we all love
Surefire's and they are damn bright...
but do you always need bright...sometimes
low key longer lasting light can have a
huge advantage...they're well made too...
so get one!!!

The Inova X5T gives enough light to navagate by in a small package. It's one of the best buys going in a flashlight.

The Arc AAA is simply amazing. It throws enough light to see where you are going and fits on a key ring or in a watch pocket. A truly take everywhere, useful light.

It's the stick by which all others are measured.

i have one coming, should be here thursday/friday, has the red LED's,its the new model, hoping to use it to go to the deer stand early in the morning before the sun comes up, and not spook the deer.

i think the inova, a SF M3, and a E2 should handle most lighting probs, imho

The Inova X5 Tactical is an excellent, long lasting, durable LED flashlight. It is one of my favorite flashlights because it is compact, bright and has a push switch on its tailcap.

Sheesh you guys stink. Now I think Im gonna have to part with some more money. Just one question though. Is the switch momentary or constant? Thanks

Both. Button for momentary bursts, or twist for constant on.

Just got my blue X5T last Saturday and am very pleased with it--although I'd kill for a clip.

Ryan,

The Inova X5 has both a twist on/off switch and a momentary push button switch. It works like a Surefire flashlight.

That seems to be a common sentiment. I agree that a pocket clip would be a logical addition. Maybe someone should tell Inova.

OK I just received the X5MT today. After reading some of the reviews I was kind of anticipating disappointment but I was pleased.

The switch is not as positive as the E2e but it certainly is far from cheesy. The LEDs on mine are white... might not be pure white but they are whiter... considerably whiter... than the white Photon III that I have. the Inova really brings out the slightly bluer tint of the Photon's LEDs.

The light isn't blinding but IMO it is plenty to navigate or work by. Not a blinding eye-of-Ra like the Surefire but just enough to be a great light. I'm not coming from the stoked - gotta new piece of gear thing, but this light puts out the right amount of light for my needs.

Looks solid too. I put a lanyard of 550 cord through it, probably 6" long or so. The fact that it doesn't have a pocket clip makes it feel good in the hand IMO. The clip on the Surefire I have a lot of problems with (non removable, biotch to adjust, puts the bezel up, etc). With this light I just dump it in my left pocket and leave half the lanyard hanging out. Due to it's streamlined design it pops out just fine.

I dig the fact that it runs off of the nuked E2e lights... very nice benefit. This light appears tough and I wouldn't hesitate to use it as a fistpack if a little extra oomph is needed.

It looks cool too, the keen glow and clean lines remind me of some kind of Blade Runner flashlight. Good stuff, I recommend them, especially if you feel bad about chucking the spent Surefire lithiums.

The missing clip should not even be an option. It really should have been included. It would be much more useful than the spastic, er, elastic sheath.

Just got one today. I had ordered a black case with blue led's and from what I've seen so far it should be well worth the money. Nice tight round beam that shows enough light for me to see all I need to see. If I want to see any more I'll break out my Surefire M2 Centurion with the 125 bulb.

I happen to have a little nylon/cordura horizontal knife case that my large Sebenza's fit in. It is also a perfect fit for the InovaX5.

I've got the Arc AAA, the Surefire E2 (Not an E2E - I see no reason to replace the E2), and I've got an Arc SLS on the way!
