I just got an Inova X1, and it's a great little light. I carry it with me when I know that I'll need a spot instead of or in addition to a flood (ala Photon II). I'm very impressed with the quality of construction. I'm wanting a "real" light. I've always had my eye on a Surefire E2e, perhaps with a KL4 conversion head. But we're talking a couple hundered bucks here. Even just a L1 or L4 is rather expensive. I know...buy quality and only cry once. Some day. But right now, It's not an option.

So there's the XO. I've handled a friend's X5 (original) and to be honest, I wasn't too impressed with it. My $20 Cateye 3 LED bicycle headlight put out better light, and that's not much more than my Photon II can do (I know, different voltages, different batteries, blah, blah, blah). But the XO has 1 Luxon LED instead of 5 1-watters, plus it has the reflector/lens deal to project the spot. If the XO is like the X1 on steroids, it sounds like the right light for me, at a fraction of the cost of a Surefire. 4 hours of regulated 32 lumen output is very impressive.

The problem is I can't find much about it. I've searched candlepowerforums and came up almost empty (the search function there really sucks). I've read flashlightreviews.com, which is a great site...but it's only 1 man's opinion. I've searched here, but came up just as empty. Does anyone else have an XO? What do you think of it? Or, if there's another alternative (similarly priced) that I've somehow missed, what else is there?

Also, aparently the belt sheath sucks. Any good reccomendations for a good one if I end up getting the XO (it's the same size as the X5, for reference).

Thanks.

I have one, it's nice, big, kinda heavy, spot beam. Quite impressive for a 1 watt.

I got to handle the X1, X0, and X5 together at Blade this last year. I liked the X1, as you do, and picked up a couple. The X5 didn't impress me either...I guess I'm not a floodlight kind of guy. The XO was really cool--plenty of output and nicely focused--but it was just plain big. I can't see carrying this one everywhere (it is rather bigger than the x5). But, if you don't mind lugging it around, it might be ideal for you.

Oh, it's bigger than the X5? I thought they were similar (or even used the same body). Thanks for the heads-up, I'll try to find one to hold before I buy.

I have the XO, it was suited to my camping needs perfectly. However, I can't see this as a EDC. The beam is quite focused and has a very good range, but it is pretty big to carry in pockets (It's about 6 inches long .75 inches in diameter).

Thanks blades, I appreciate it. Guess I need more practice with their search function. The first link was great, the picture with the X1/X5/X0 size comparison was very useful. It seems like everyone likes the light it puts out, but hates the size.

I see that Inova is coming out with a new model, the T1. Smaller, uses a single 123 cell, same regulated circuitry and lens technology. I think I might wait for this one.

Ah, I see what the problem with the search was. The default has that "newer than 1 week thing". No wonder. Of course, this forum won't even accept "X0" as a search perameter...
