I just got an Inova X1, and it's a great little light. I carry it with me when I know that I'll need a spot instead of or in addition to a flood (ala Photon II). I'm very impressed with the quality of construction. I'm wanting a "real" light. I've always had my eye on a Surefire E2e, perhaps with a KL4 conversion head. But we're talking a couple hundered bucks here. Even just a L1 or L4 is rather expensive. I know...buy quality and only cry once. Some day. But right now, It's not an option.
So there's the XO. I've handled a friend's X5 (original) and to be honest, I wasn't too impressed with it. My $20 Cateye 3 LED bicycle headlight put out better light, and that's not much more than my Photon II can do (I know, different voltages, different batteries, blah, blah, blah). But the XO has 1 Luxon LED instead of 5 1-watters, plus it has the reflector/lens deal to project the spot. If the XO is like the X1 on steroids, it sounds like the right light for me, at a fraction of the cost of a Surefire. 4 hours of regulated 32 lumen output is very impressive.
The problem is I can't find much about it. I've searched candlepowerforums and came up almost empty (the search function there really sucks). I've read flashlightreviews.com, which is a great site...but it's only 1 man's opinion. I've searched here, but came up just as empty. Does anyone else have an XO? What do you think of it? Or, if there's another alternative (similarly priced) that I've somehow missed, what else is there?
Also, aparently the belt sheath sucks. Any good reccomendations for a good one if I end up getting the XO (it's the same size as the X5, for reference).
Thanks.
