Father's Day is coming up and my wife usually gets me (or let's me pick out) a knife for myself. I'm interested in the Shuffler and Bowlus clip pattern. If you have experience with one or both I'd like to hear your feedback on each and how they compare.

Thanks!

My vote would be the shuffler — I like the simplicity of its designs and feel in hand. The blades are almost identical, but I believe the Bolus to be a very little bit bigger. The Bolus handle, though is a lot bigger. I really wanted to like the Bolus knives but the proportions seem off to me. I’ve had two and sold two. My shufflers though— they aren’t going anywhere.

I’ve had both. I kept the Bolus clip and sold the shuffler. Both are great knives, so you cannot go wrong.

Differences: the blade height is greater on the bolus as is the handle. If you like something that will fill your hand it is going to feel more substantial. The blade length is pretty similar though I haven’t compared them side by side. Bolus has a lanyard and the shuffler doesn’t. Shuffler has the barlow bolster and the Bolus is a shadow pattern. Those things are pretty obvious. I’d say the pull weights are close and the action on both are comparable. The tang is sunk below the handle in the Bolus when closed, which I prefer over the protruding tang on the Shuffler.

It's just personal preference which you choose, both are great knives. The shuffler is a bit smaller and might be more pocket friendly to some. On that I never notice either one when carried in the front pocket. If you prefer a hidden tang you'll like the Bolus clip but the tang on the Shuffler is nicely rounded so no sharp corner there.
It's not uncommon for me to carry both, the Shuffler in the RFP and the Bolus in a small sheath.
The Lion Steels have pretty much replaced all my other traditionals. There's a quality and smoothness about them that more traditional's knives rarely match.
The correct answer about which to carry, is to get both. :D

Eli, you can go the the CK page and see the Best Man model on the early reserve page. To the OP, I have the Shuffler Clip point with carbon fiber sides, as well as the Bolus Otnat in natural Micarta. They both ride comfortably in my 5th/watch pocket. Fit and finish is impeccable with both, and I plan to keep both in my stable. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...for now. ;)

IMHO, the Bolus looks like a good knife, but the Shuffler is an exceptional knife. I can't think of a single thing I'd change on it. Perfect execution. Strong clean lines. Amazing fit and finish. Great steel. Perfect size and weight. There should be a Shuffler in everybody's collection.

Agreed! Shuffler first, then the Bolus later. Both are great knives though.:cool:

Can’t argue with that. Shuffler...Great knife.

I have a bolus and like it a lot. Cuts like a knife :)
My only ding is the stop pin. It stops the blade from touching the backspring, which is a good thing. But I must confess that I like a kick better. It makes a more satisfying sound when it closes.

I noticed the shuffler has a kick on the blade. I don't own one, but it might have a more satisfying close to it. It's a small detail, but worth mentioning. Maybe someone who has both knives can comment on it.
Maybe D Dean51 ?

I appreciate the input guys. If I get to pick one up I'm leaning towards the shuffler.
