Input Needed on Guard

Hello,
I am looking for some guidance on what would be the best way to make my hand guard look better. I filed the gap a little large.

Would it be best to try and fill the gap with solder? Reheat the material pound in tighter. Any other suggestions.

Guard Material is stainless Damascus .146 thick

Thats a big gap. Looks like it's on both sides.
I would pound it cold and if you get it close solder. Looks thin enough to work cold.
Or just start over.
Measure twice, cut once.
