I am considering a first custom knife purchase and really like several of the Allen Elishewitz ones I have seen and am intrigued by the tetra lock but don’t see much information on it. One of the knives that I like for the action is a spyderco smock but just wanted to see if anyone has used one and their impressions of it.

Isn't the tetra lock a modified button lock? It's rectangular instead of round? I do like some of his designs.

I can’t really tell; I don’t mind button locks but most seem to be a little odd in detent. I can’t tell if it is some type of compression type lock or liner lock with a button or a button/plunge lock etc.

I'm fairly sure it works like the button-actuated compression lock, similar to the Spyderco Smock. Now I want one!

If you mean the Spyderco Smock, then the lock is a tried and trued Compression Lock with a button instead of a tab.
