Insane mail call

So around 4 months ago I talked to Brandon McFarland of BM custom knives and got in his books. I informed him that he had complete freedom on the design, materials, everything. I didnt even want to see it until it comes in the mail. We'll it finally came in today and it left me speachless. Behold the prototype of "Da Poon"

W2 insane Harpoon blade with hamon
Marbled carbon fiber
Timascus bolster / clip
Orange peel finish on lock side.

So sick.

It appears as though you had good reason to trust him "that" much.... DESIGN also? Wow!
I am happy for you, although I couldn't/wouldn't do it.
 
Yup! I literally had no idea what this knife was going to look like. This is a complete prototype. I figure hey if you let the artist go by feel you can't go wrong.
 
Gosh. Materials are one thing but to be completely unfamiliar with the design (for something you have to pay a ton for before you see it!)! I could never do that. Not even if i suddenly fell into a money pit lol Anyway, he sure did a good job! That is one fine looking knife. Congratulations, sir :)

Yup. Sounds like a blast, but I could never do it.

Congrats on a unique, one of a kind knife.
 
Beautiful knife! Lockup is slightly earlier than I'm comfortable with, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

How does she flip? Is it on washers? IKBS?

Iike a dream. She's on caged bearings and the blade just falls down so smooth. Lock up has a tiny bit of stick to it when unlocking but it's gotten alot smoother in only a day. Can't wait to see this bad boy fully broken in. I'll post a vid soon.

Wow! I was not prepared for such awesomeness. That thing is breath taking.. Functional work of art indeed.

Congratulations man. Now you have something to pass down to your children.
 
Wow. Great looking knife and trust in the make to hit a home run. Glad to see that kind of trust in a maker.
 
It's been a long time since I've seen a W2 bladed folder. Congratulations on the knife. It should last generations with basic care.
