Inside the Speed Safe

That is some pretty cleaver engineering on that speed safe. I have a couple of them. I gave some out to my kids too. I wonder if the spring gets gunked up with dirt etc ,what the best way of cleaning it. I sure dont have the guts to take one apart. (( I have a habit of cutting my sandwich with my knife, Mayo does wonders for gunking up the works ))
and OH hey T NJ was cool

Jack were you there for the snow?

We went to Edison to see my sister-in-law Christmas day and she gave me an 1970's Case Canoe as a gift.

Crosman177, that was an old pic, I'm still experimenting trying to get the best macro shots with the digital camera.

The speed safe spring is a "L" shaped spring (more or less), almost a like a "v" shape. You just have to be careful taking it apart so you dont loose the parts. Its pretty much impossible to get dirt and gunk in there, although it can get a little bit in there, but almost none. The only thing you might want to do is pack it with a little grease if the spring rattles a little. Other wise the only other reason to take it apart is if you break the spring.

i had to take my scallion apart after the torsion bar failed
upon inspection, the bend of the bar had a crack (metal fatigue) that caused it to fail
lesson learnt : don't play with the speedsafe all day long :D

Did you requset a replacement spring for it from kershaw? They sent me one a while back with no problem.
