Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to show you what I've done as a result of my infatuation with the Lite Machete. I don't want to get one anytime soon, as my father got me my own Imacasa the last time he was in El Salvador. It's a No. 152 22-incher. I'd like to know what kind of steel it is, if anyone knows off the top of their head. Originally the steel was exposed, so I primed and painted it, as I'm too much of a cheap ass to get it cerakoted (actually I'm just really impatient). The sheath is leather, but is hardened. I've also wrapped the handle, since I'm not sure I can do micarta on my own just yet. I wrapped a bit past the handle as that area is blunt, and not supposed to be sharpened.

I would have gotten my own, but I was out of the country myself. So what's your take?

looks very cool i really like the sheath. i think i would replace the plastic with wood scales if i couldnt do micarta which i cant do nearly as well as esee does.

maybe put some ranger bands over the paracord, looks like u did a good job.

welcome to the forum too

take it easy

I'll definitely think about the ranger bands over the blade, may work better. I actually thought about grinding the handle down so I could use both gutted para-cord, and a regular wrap over that.

Ellocomotive,

Nice work man, looks good. How does the grip feel with that wrap on it now? Have you gotten to do any hard use with it yet? That is a seriously intense sheath you have there BTW. I hope your mods serve you well in the field. Be safe man.

God bless,
Adam

Jumpmonkey,

The grip is much better than it was with just the standard plastic, and I find myself manipulating the blade where the cord is wrapped past the handle often, so ithat's a definite success. Despite the purchase I have now, there's no comparison with this and my Hest. I'd recommend doing this to every plastic handle though-no more slippage!

I haven't had the opportunity to actually test it yet, as I just completed it last night, and am out of town. As soon as I get home though, I'm sure the police will be looking for a madman with a machete.

I got this machete recently for myself, but I have worked with it before as I'm salvadorean and worked in the field for a while. Quite a workhorse. I know because of its size it can be a bit unwieldy and hefty, but once you master it, it becomes a beast. How has it worked for you so far?

i have a sheath exactly like that except it says guatemala. i bought a machete when i was there several years ago.
