now mind you it's nothing special, as they're 1/4" plywood. I'm just starting to cut scales, and these are strictly practice & to see what thickness I'm going to put on this knife eventually. It definetly looks like a mini-becker! The 1/4" I used is way too thick (but that's what I had)if your going to try & edc this one; although at that thickness it would make one hellof a utility knife. I have some 1/8th" green canvas micarta I'll try next. Used the front hole & top rear hole for hardware. I'll put a thong tube in other hole for the finished knife. Scans monday-sorry. May try & do some file work on spine, if I get some time. Hell, for $34.00 it's almost as cheap as an unfinished blade from one of the supply outlets. Try it, you'll like it. :)

I'll be lookin for the scans.
And your work on the scales.
I'll be putting scales on mine as I'll prob use as a belt knife. Tho when I get it we'll see :)
This seems to be the usual fine Becker.
Sigh...
Gonna order one now

I REALLY like the look of the scales you're gonna put on the becker.
I think it makes the knife bettere for my end use as a belter. :)

Where do you get scale material?
Knifemaking kits at the top of the page?

It definitely needs scales or a longer handle. As is, the short handle makes it too unwieldly (sp?) for me. I'm going to try wrapping mine in leather to see if it helps. Love the thickness and shape of the blade though.

I just ordered 2 of the becker necker and I'll be following Hank Zudd progress with his scales.
I think without having held one that the scales are theway to go ... for me.

Suerte, please post your progress with the leather wrap. Sounds interesting

As always the becker is tops in price performance.

been busy with family stuff; may be able to do the micarta scales next week. will send you a pic. thanks pm

Hank Zudd, I just got my Kneckers and I really like it.
I even like the sheath. I remove the knife by applying pressure with my thumb on the kydex while pulling out the blade. Easy one-hand removal.

How are you doing the scales? In relation to the choil or the start of the blade from the handle.
Are you keeping the stock sheath carry?
If so, are you accounting for the knife depth in the sheath? And the curvature of the sheath.

I can see the fitting of the scales is not the easy job that I first thought it would be :)

Regards
Tom

I messed around with some wraps with regular cord and couldn't get anything to my liking. I think that if the choil (I believe that I'm using the terminology right) was a little deeper and wider, then I could have came up with something more to my liking. The wrap just took up too much room. An inch more of handle and little larger choil would have made it a definite winner though. The quality was superb. I was very impressed with the sharpness and sheath quality. And even though I am an user, the finish was quite impressive too.

The more I handle the Knecker, the more I can't see scales or wrap if I keep the stock sheath.
I like the fit and function of thesheath. I carry round neck tip down.
Easy one-hand removal. two-hand sheathing.
The stock configuration fits my 3 finger grip very well.
I may have been premature with the need for scales and wrap.
I have to skin a deer or something to get a real comfort level of the skeleton handle in a tough hand grip use.
So far the skeletonized handle is comfortable for all uses. It's still early in the game tho.
I haven't used the blade often. Only a copule of days.
