Instant & inexpensive flea market gratification...

Another flea market find this morning. This Case trapper is dated 2008 on the bolster, has a Ducks Unlimited shield, and "RJ Matthews Company" engraved onto the main blade. The tin shows a little handling and storage wear, but the knife is in mint unused condition. Price was an even $20, and it was certainly a deal to me at that price :)

I don't know if RJ Matthews offered/sold these from their business that year, having their company name engraved onto them as an extra promotional thing, or, maybe it was some sort of gift they gave out to certain customers/vendors/buyers. It does not bother me either way, since it just adds another facet to this collectable item for me :)

She was an easy squeeze into my collection.
I put her inside of this display case that only houses USA made knives :)

Kabar
Camillus
Gerber
Utica
Buck
Case
Ontario
Craftsman (likely Ulster made)

What's that cutlass on the top?

I actually have two of those... They are KaBar Swabbie'. Part of their now discontinued "Zombie Knife" collection.
1/4" thick, heat treated 1095 cro-van steel, full flat grind blades.... They are obviously real, but were also done in a playful tongue n cheek sort'a way ;)

Nice find, I like advertising knives as well and $5 for that one is a great deal!

This is my best price find on an advertising knife, found at a thrift store for 99 cents plus tax. It was made in Germany for a pre prohibition brewery company in Rochester NY. Seems like a genuine tortoise shell toothpick and mother of pearl scales. I made up a nice display for her :)
