I have always thought neck knives were kind of silly and a little bit on the "Mall Ninja" side of things until this past weekend. I went to D/FW airport to pick up my oldest daughter and her flight was delayed for three hours due to bad weather. Naturally I had to find a way to kill some time so I made the two mile trek to Bass Pro and then to the Knife Shoppe in the Grapevine Mills Mall. While there I kept eyeballing this little Benchmade neck knife called the 160 Tether. Well, one thing led to another and after some haggling I left with the little Benchmade 160, and to make a long story short, I love it! I made an airboat river run with some buddies last night to help look for a guy who went missing after falling in one of our swollen flooded rivers Monday, and I wore and used the knife all night. I honestly don't know how I have gotten along without a neck knife for this long. I find myself setting here at the computer today wanting to order a whole bunch of them. One that looks particularly interesting to me is the SOG neck knife, does anyone here have one? If so, what do you think about it? What are some other "must buy" neckers!:D

Hmm, me three favorite neckers are the Microtech Manus, the Spyderco Swick, and the Emerson La Griffe.

I've also heard good things about the Buck Hartsook and Mayo Kaala.

Becker Necker is great but hard to find these days.

I have a Boker Subcom fixed blade as my necker, and I love it.

AG Russell makes the Woodswalker which I have also heard good things about.

You can also look at the CRKT Dogfish.

Those are all the neckers I can think of off the top of my head :D

+1 on the Emerson LaGriffe and the Buck Mayo Kaala.

Swick was a good knife but is OOP, also the rear on it was a bit sharp for my taste. (Its predecessor, the SPOT, was similar in that aspect.)

The Becker Necker was a classic, also of course OOP. But a bit heavy for everyday wear. Especially compared to the Swick, LaGriffe, & Kaala.

Ludwig, were you looking at my collection? I have 4 of the knives you mentioned. I love the Hartsook, and the Woodswalker (although this lives in my kitchen as a paring knife). I just ordered the Dogfish and I am sure I am going to like it as well.

I am partial to the Fallkniven Wm1. For a long time my favourite was an A.G. Russell hunter's scalpel in ats 34. But they qiut making that one. I am wearing right now a A.G.Russell One hand knife in a Kydex neck sheath, will see how I like that one

I wear a Benchmade-Snody 210TK everyday under my shirt. I also like the AG Russell Woodswalker... I might order one someday before too long.

i have one from tom krein in blue twill g-10, it looks great and cuts well. tom was pleasure to deal with too

I have a few neckers:
Simonich Bitteroot
Jim Burke PK1 Prototype
Burke/Randall King Snitch
BM210 ( though a bit heavy )
Alan Folts " Baby Bear "
Strider ED
I also have a neck sheath for my Strider PT.

soon to add a Buck Mayo Kaala

Tell me more Normark, don't just leave me hanging like that. What is this mercharness you speak of, why do I need it, can you post a picture of it, and where do I get one? Thanks!

Hey Guys..

Tolly...

Ahh a Mercharness Virgin !!
Cool...

Here is the mercharness

The Mercharness is a very simply yet, very effective shoulder harness for small to medium sized knives..

It's a Very comfortable harness that can utilize most neck knives....

I use it exclusively on my Speed Dialers for the Waved Spyderco Endura and Delica.

I admire a few different neckers, but the one that I have been carrying for the last 4yrs running is the Emerson La Griffe. So much that I forget that it is there.:D

My necker rotation consists of....

Todd Begg Meso
Benchmade 210TK
RKK/Jim Burke Syphon
Lucas Burnley Kwaiken on a Mercharness (perfect carry method for this knife)
Michael Burch Platypus
Tom Mayo (just go it, don't know if it actually has a model name, not that it necessarily matters)

I like them all, some more than others admittedly, but each one does the job nicely. I recommend checking out any of them if you get the chance.

Other stuff I like but have not had an opportunity to carry: Nemesis/Hall Arch Ally, Tom Krein TK 1 & Dogfish, Todd Begg Tree Frog, a few different models from Mickey Yurco, one from Kirby Lambert that I think was called the Pin, Sean O'Hare Buzztail, Trace Rinaldi Matrix.

There was also a nice looking custom Jeff Hall necker over at Bladeart last time I was browsing there, not sure what it's called.

I just got a KBar LDK. i thought it looked neat. it seems to be one of these neck knives. but i have no idea how im supposed to hold it. anyone want to give me some pointers?
