Instead of adding tons of stuff to your sheath, why don't you....

With all this talk about mounting tons of stuff to a fixed blade sheath for EDC or just camping use, I thought I'd give an alternative. Consider storing the extra stuff in a pouch. This pouch could then be mounted on said fixed blade sheath.

I EDC The following every day (listed how I EDC it):

Flashlight (AA or CR123A): M2 Pouch
Photon style flashlight: Key Ring
Band-aids: M2 Pouch
T/P: M2 Pouch
Pain killers: M2 pouch
Notepad: M2 pouch
Pen: M2 Pouch
Firesteel (LMF Scout model): Key ring
Whistle: key ring
Folder: pocket
Hard candy: pouch
Bandana: pocket
Wallet: pocket
Cell Phone: M2 pouch
SOG Power lock Multi-tool (Blackhawk Pistol mag pouch)

When I'm out hiking I normally wear a Pistol belt with a canteen and other stuff on it. Also when I'm backpacking the waist belt gets in the way. Since my stuff is either in my pockets or in one of two pouches, I can take the pouches off my belt and clip them to my pistol belt or fixed blade sheath. That way, I always have certain items even when I don't have a Fixed blade, backpack or belt kit.

Everytime I made a sheath with loops for a firesteel, stone, file, compass and the like, I was always afraid that the stuff hanging off would get snagged and fall out. With everything in the pouch and the pouch clipped/strapped to the sheath or my belt, I worry a lot less.

So to sum it up storing the extra stuff in a pouch is good because I always have it, it looks better and more organization. Hope this helps some one.

:D That's a good idea. I had a similar idea (after ramming a needle through my thumb trying to sew on slots for things.) I've seen alot of different ways people have added doo-dads & gadgets to their sheaths..but most of them look as if the goodies are 'going
to fall outta the basket'. I was trying to work on a custom-sheath but ruined my materials by trying to add too many little slots :(. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.

Recently, I've been experimenting with a pair of gadget pouches, trying to integrate them to carry my knife's sheath in a crossdrawn fashion just above my butt (small of my
back). They're compact...but they hold a whole lot more than the sheath's little pouch.
Yeah, your idea beats sewing on little slots any day of the week..I hate needles.
