I know they're out there. I've found lots of threads of people building them, but I can't seem to find the threads with instructions or plans. I plan to build something around 22" and need to be able to work M2 with it. No, M2 isn't steel I'll be working. The machine shop that I've been learning from does a few parts in M2 and their oven won't go above 1900°. In exchange for teaching, I told them that when I build an oven I will make one that I can HT their M2 parts in.

Big fire brick box, coil, PID controller, thermocouple, timer? 220v that I can also run my spot welder from.

what's your email address? I have a set of plans, pdf, that I could email you... It's just barely too big for me to have attached here.

That's the same one I have; thanks Tommegow!

By the way, I built one of these, with a 1" layer of inswool between the bricks and the frame and it works like a champ! I can be up to temp (~1500F) in under 6 minutes. I know that's just chamber temp and you still need to let it set like that for a bit but I was blown away I could have the ambient chamber temp that hot that fast...

amcardon ( and others)

You don't ever want to put a blade in the oven during startup. I know the TC measures 1500F in 6 minutes, but unless you want your blade to heat up to 2000 ( and then cool down to 1500), wait until the oven is fully soaked. 30 minutes minimum.

Yes, I agree 100%; I was only mentioning that these specific plans make an effective oven.
