May I ask why I am allowed to start a thread in this section but not reply to an already posted thread?

So far the common denominator is that you are all registered users. That level of membership is bare bones, can't sell or trade, but you can buy items in the Exchange. If the same permission group type of thing is set up in that forum, then unless you upgrade to say Gold, you won't be able to host or enter giveaways.
What cannot be said with certainty is if Spark wanted the forum set up for Gold membership and higher, as an extra perk so to speak. I would imagine that if you want to host a giveaway, you can do it in General Knife Discussion. It's still a new forum, and we don't have a lot of information on it yet.

Ok. All that makes sense but if that's the case why CAN I start a thread here without prior permission? I would think that if registered users weren't allowed to even reply here they certainly wouldn't be allowed to initiate a thread here. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I got a basic membership and can reply to GAW posts, so maybe it's set to require paid membership?

Says right in the forum description that replies are restricted to Gold or higher. Not sure of the intention, but seems purposeful.

That is something that only Spark can answer. Maybe he will chime in.

Possible explanations could be supporting members still sport their "Registered User" status
Posts were made by members before the thread was relocated to the GAW section
Posts were made by supporting members whose subscription has just recently expired.

I can't reply (anymore) either. I was going to post up a pic for 2nd chance entry but can no longer reply. Can't contact whitty either.

Registered users can start their own giveaway threads. They can reply to their own giveaway threads. They are not allowed to reply to other people's giveaway threads. This is to prevent people from registering multiple accounts for multiple chances at giveaways and provide some sort of identification in case scamming occurs. Manufacturers and makers can do giveaways in their own forums that are open to everyone. The dedicated giveaway forum is considered a premium content area for people who help keep the site open through purchased memberships

Gotcha. That makes sense to me. Thanks for the clarification.

I am a Gold Member and received the message that I have insufficient privileges to post on the Trading Knives Sub Forum. Please let me know why this would happen and what I can do to correct it.

Thanks -

Thanks for the response. I had not noticed that the banner is missing. In the past, I have been notified when yearly payment is due. How do I find out what my current membership status is?
