To the best of my knowledge, Buck currently makes their bolstered folders with integral bolsters/liners but does anybody know when they started doing that?

I have a 705 from 1992 and the bolsters appear to be a separate piece that is attached to the liners. I thought Buck had been using integral bolsters/liners before that but now I'm curious when they started doing it.

For the 300 series, Buck started using the integral bolsters/liners in about 1990. That was when they started using sintered nickel silver.

Thanks Bert.

jbmonkey jbmonkey if you look very closely you can see the lines that separate the bolsters from the liners which means they are not all one piece. (integral)

My 2018 112 on the other hand, looks like they are all one piece.

I'm a little rusty, but those were mid-80s shields IIRC. Could be a reblade from 92?

I'm not a 700 series specialist, but I think the shield for the 700 series has always had "BUCK" spelled out. Early versions used script and then a change was made to block lettering in about 1984-1985. As for the 110, they have always been one piece, sometimes cast, then forged and finally sintered brass in about 1975.

You know Bert... now that you mention it I don't recall seeing 700s with anything but that shield. Interesting...
