I finished this piece up this afternoon. Its a full integral. The blade is a twist pattern using 1080,1095 and 15n20, with a 131 layers welded along the cutting edge. OAL - 14 1/2"- 8 3/4" cutting edge and a 6" top clip (dull)
The tang has been vine file worked top and bottom and the scales are from a set of old stag scales Dave Kelly sent me last year. I truly didn't want to sand off as much of the stag that I did but it was so knobby that it actually was uncomfortable to handle once it was on the knife, they were beautiful though.

Thanks for lookin,

Bill

Great piece!

Are my eyes fooling me, or does the blade get wider?

Which was harder on the integral - bolster or butt?

Did you need a mill to square up the tang? Or do it by file?

Damm Bill. Thats just inspirational. Beautiful work. I'm gonna start a collection of your posts. Every time I see one I say Wow, I gotta try that some day.....
Thank you for sharing that. I love the shape of the blade and that file work is beautiful.

Outstanding Bill!!!!
That is one beautiful knife!
I love the pattern and the damascus and stag are super fine!

Awsome! I love it, bet that was some fun welding. I don't realy like too much texture on stag, like a little but not the stuff that looks like rasp teeth, I think the handle turned out perfect.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a drop-dead gorgeous knife...........

WOW!!!!!

Someday I hope to be able to weld up different damascus pieces like you've done here!, the look is just fabulous. Your stag looks like Red Deer yes?, a super nice contrast.

regards, mitch

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. These full integrals can be a hair pulling experience, but 1 every 6 to 12 months isn't to bad. Gives plenty of time for hair regrowth. :D

Daniel, MILL whats a mill. No it was all done with the use of the hammer, anvil, press, hack saw, files, band saw, grinder and drill press.
Bolster or Butt, it doesn't seem to matter, its getting the handle material to fit nicely thats the hard part, for me anyway. the rest is just time, time, time consuming.
Yes, blade does get wider. 1 3/16" at the plunge cut to 1 3/8" at the belly.

Thanks again,

Bill

that's what I wanted to here, Bill. Thanks!

Again - stunning piece.

Tom, yes, there 8 pins going through the tang 1/8" -3/16" deep into the scales.

Thank you,

Bill

Dang, how did I miss this post the first time?

As everyone has said, and I have to repeat, it is fantastic!

Looking at that beauty is really giving me the itch to get back into the shop.

What can I say, Bill. That is one beautiful piece! I believe you got this knife making thingie down pat a long time ago!

Damn Bill -- another beauty!!!

I sent you an email telling you I was going to be in your neck of the woods -- I could have gotten some drool spots on that blade! ;)
