14-½ inches OAL, forged from 5160. The handle is black oak with woven cotton cord wrapping, sealed with shellac and a top coat of pinon pine rosin. The scabbard is mahogany with a woven cotton cord neck strap.

Dramatic design, beautifully documented too...

All the best,

...Again.

Every square inch has something interesting and diverse.

(And pictures that are making me cry in delight and pain. Damn. ;))

Thanks!

very cool how well does the sheath hold the blade does it chatter or move around in it. Very nice work on everything , thanks

JP,

Thanks.

It holds it very snug with a friction fit from the bridge which works in conjunction with the distal taper of the blade. No chattering or moving around,... won't fall out upside down if seated properly either.

The really nice things about the open faced hikot type scabbards are that they drain water, are easy to clean out, and show the blade.

very cool and I like the way it looks. thanks for the answer. If you took off straps could you carry it sash style. It looks like the wood retaining part would act like a frog

JP, the neck strap is removable (and adjustable), so you may carry it by the belt loop instead. I prefer it on the neck strap though.

Another nice thing is that you can use the individual strands of the strap (or the whole strap) for other things by pulling them out, if you are in the bush and in a pinch... or in a survival situation. There are 9 strands in the neck strap about 9 feet long each...
