forged from h/c octagon stock, satin finished blade and finger choil, the handle was hot formed.

That is frickin awesome Andrew! Where do you get 1095 in octagon stock? I supose I could forge a round down to an octagon bar.

well i guess i shouldn't have been so specific, in the for sale i didn't quote the exact type, since then i spoke with the guy i got it from and he suggested that it was more than likley 1095, but i guess i cant be positive

it's old stock, been around quite a while. i remember some old smith/shoer, said that back in the day, if a round of steel had 8 flats it was usually good stock for tooling.........probably not a very good rule to follow buy todays standards, but none the less it hardened up good.
