OK, dumb question I know....but what exactly are the intended methods of using the Extreme Duty pen for self defense?
With most "tactical" pens I've seen/used, it's pretty straight forward - you stab with them, much like you would a knife. But the ED seems to be a bit more sophisticated in it intended use.
Here's a photo from my upcoming review:
The bulbous pen cap doesn't seem ideal for making a penetrating stab wound using the pen. I've seen/read some vague references that the pen can be used for applying to pressure points and for "compliance techniques." I've no training in this area and have no clue about this type of use.
Now, with the pen cap off, the writing ends seems much more useful for stabbing:
The writing end tapers and is VERY solid. So I guess if I needed to use this pen defensively (and it would be a VERY bad day if I had to resort to this level of back up) I'd have to first remove the pen cap?
Another other thoughts/recommendations here appreciated.
Here's one more photo...just because I thought it came out well.
