Yesterday morning, I received a message from Jolipapa Jolipapa suggesting that I check with the mailman, because he might have something for me that day. This was around 10 am my time, and the mail doesn't usually come until around 2 pm, so I had a couple hours to wait with piqued curiosity.

I was out working in the garage that afternoon when I saw the mail truck coming down the road. The mailman stopped at our bank of the mailboxes (which is a couple houses down), then pulled right up to the end of my driveway, came up the drive and told me he had a package that required a signature. Sure enough, the package he had for me had come all the way from Paris, France.

Jolipapa was kind enough to send my daughter, Eleanor, a birthday present for her first birthday -- a very cool Stade Français rugby shirt! Here she is wearing it out and about today.

Along with the shirt and a nice card, JP included a little something for me: this good looking Issard pocketknife (or "canif"). I think this might be my first French knife that isn't an Opinel. I'm looking forward to carrying and using it!

Jolipapa, from both Ellie and myself, THANK YOU!  :D :D

JP is definitely on a roll of generosity :) Great stuff Barrett, cool knife, and Eleanor looks fab in her new shirt my friend :)

N°9 is the scrum half, usually the smaller and smarter guy of the gang!

In fact the pictures could well sum up the club's season : proud when entering the field... and after, wondering what had happened... (they finished 7th of the Top 14) :D

Really good stuff Barrett and Eleanor is beautiful hard to believe she's one already. Good show Alain very thoughtful and generous of you.

JP is definitely on a roll. Very nice, Alain:thumbsup: Eleanor is such a cutie Barrett :)

This just made my day! Those pictures of Ellie are absolutely priceless Barrett!!! Well done JP! The Pen knife is a splendid example. I just love this place!! :D

Me too; Second Row Forward. How many cowboys ya know played rugby? Well done JP. Eleanor is rocking her new rugby strip.

Awesome post! What a little cutie Barrett. You're going to have your hands full in a few years. :Do_O
Nice work JP.

It's always nice reading of the kind and thoughtful gestures that are so common on the porch. It's funny you know I just renewed my gold membership yesterday and for many knife related reasons was happy to do so. That being said I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that reading of acts of kindness like this are worth the price of admission alone :)

What an uplifting thread!:D Thanks for sharing the news of the gifts for Eleanor and you, Barrett!!:cool:
Plaudits to Jolipapa for his thoughtfulness and generosity (and for his sense of humor - "Eleanor Rugby" was priceless, and I was too burned out to see it coming :D:D)!:thumbsup:

JP I played for Waid Academy, (first fifteen) in Anstruther, Scotland. this would of been 1976/77. While my height and weight (6'3" ish and about 220-225) have remained pretty constant since then, I do have to report some gravitational redeployment. Ok maybe a little more than some...
