Interest in a Chicago screw/sex screw group buy?

I know most of you guys are no strangers to buying sex, but control yourselves. I'm talking about hardware, not software! ;)

In my search for new Concealex sheath hardware I ran across what I thought was a good price, then another company responded to my email and beat these other guys' prices substantially (like, 1/5 of the price!). I'm asking for samples so I can be 100% sure about the product, but based on the short email I received they have the right thing. I was looking at 1/8" aluminum posts (the female part of the screw) and 3/16" long posts (handy for three-ply of 0.09" material). I think it sounds like they sell in pairs, so you get a post and screw, not the post only, and I would guess that the screws are those big flat aluminum jobbies with the slot for a screwdriver. I asked if she can separate them and just order posts, so we'll see. Anyway, the catch is that the company will only sell them in quantities of 1000, and at the rate I make knives and sheaths that would last me the rest of my life.

So, I was curious to see if people wanted to get in on a group purchase. I wouldn't mind getting 200-300 of both sizes myself. If we get 3-4 guys in for each size it would be great. Their prices for each 1,000 sets of screws was $51.50 for 1/8" and $52 for 3/16". So, we're looking at about $26 each (for 250 screws of each size) or so if we get 4 guys in for each group. Add a couple bucks for shipping and there you have it.

I'm going to wait for a pic or sample from this company, so it may be a week or two before I would act on this. All I'd want is a verbal agreement that you want in on it, I would order them and divvy them up and re-send them out and you could drop me a check or Paypal me whatever the final amount ends up being. Let me know!

I was looking around myself for the sex bolts or whatever you call them. I am looking for the combo for attaching handle slabs to tactical blade. Like the one TOPS uses and just about every other tac blade maker...no luck yet. This is a pretty good site, they might have something you need. Frank

Steve
the chicargo screws I have are steel
not aluminum .. that's the differance in price I'm sure..
I may be interested though

but I'd want more details. picture wise..

Dan, I've used aluminum posts exclusively since I started doing custom sheaths back in 1998 and never had a single problem with them. The SS ones are about twice the cost. I heard back from the company and they are sending a sample so I can see for sure (pictures on their site suck). I think they're exactly what they should be: flat head with the threads going all the way through the post and head. She also told me they could do female ends only, which would make the price $38 for 1,000 1/8" post female ends and $38.50 for 1,000 3/16" ones. Considering I really don't need the screws, I would lean more toward the female ends only, which again, if we split 3-4 ways is dirt cheap. I would just order what I need and keep them all, I just don't need 1,000 of each of these sizes, which is why I'm wondering if anyone wants to divvy these up a few ways.

Cool, I'll keep you posted on everything. Are you in for the 1/8" size or the 3/16" size?

Steve is that 1/8" and 3/16" size in tube length or tube dia??

opps I just reread that
I'd want the longer ones they can be ground to size if need be which I'd have to do anyway most the time..
