This thread is intended to compile feedback on the interest for a specialized group or "club" specifically relating to the Buck 300 series. The purpose would be to gather information and share that information to specific individuals who specialize in the Buck 300 series. I'd like to here from the Buck fellow and hear what you think.

Who's the 'Buck' fellow....

First off, is wow have NEVER had that thought before.

Second off, is there more people interested than you, me and three or four others I could name ? But I guess that is big part of what your asking.

300/ch

Realizing that there are only a hand full of interested people, It would still make sence. 300, I think you and I talk more than I talk to any other forum member. If we could broaden that information circle who knows what we could come up with. Sharing pictures and creating albums of things we are interested and things wanted. This is only to creat unity amoung traditional Buck style Knives. I think others would appreciate being part of something a little more tight knit. Maybe a special Buck 301 we send out to the members. Ideas are wanted...

If you think its a bad idea speak up...

Realistically, There need only be a hand full of participants. If you look at the other social clubs on the forum, there numbers are fairly small as well. It would be a place to open the conversations that only a couple of us have to several more.

I don't know maybe its a bad idea. Nobody seems to want to post there feelings about this. Even if you don't like the 300s and you have a comment, go for it.

A closed mouth doesn't get fed...

I think it's a good idea. I'm not a 300 collector, seriously, I only have 4, I don't have a problem, yet; but it would be nice from a basic interest standpoint to have yet another resource for information about them.

I haven't answered because I'm still not quite sure what you are wanting to put together here. Is it another sub-forum or something like that for 300 collectors, or an e-mail/phone circle? I really don't know for sure what you mean.

I don't consider myself a 300 series collector in particular, but I did just make a quick count and I have at least 45 of them. I've learned alot about them from Craig and I hope to learn more, but I see no reason to change anything to accomplish that.

This sub-forum has worked well to help educate me on many different Buck patterns and I doubt that would have happened it the topics had not been open to the general membership and only to a select group who specialized in that pattern.

You asked for opinions and that is mine.:)

Plumb,
I'm not looking to start a Subforum, I'm thinking of Ideas and not to sure what direction to go. The Blade forum has social groups or Clubs that every registered and paid member has access to. Anybody can start a group/club. There are groups such as law enforcement knife collectors, ie guys that are employed as LE that share there interests. This would be apart from the Buck page.

Really all it would be is a seperate area that can be specialized/customized to our liking, where albums and pictures can be stored. Its similar to your personel information page but for a group of people. It would serve as a place to unite people of the same exact interests not just generalized (Buck page) although the information can be posted to the Buck page when its wanted.

MB,
I am by far no expert, but own between 25 and 30 300"s and would certainly like to be a part of this group to glean any information some of the experts would pass on.

STDK,
Thanks for your response. You are not alone, several people have multipul 300 and never thought they were a 300 collector. That sounds like a collector to me. The intention is not to say you have to only collect 300 it is just a way to compile data on a knife you have an interest in. I collect other series of Buck other than the 300s, such as the Vantages and night hawks. I have several fixed blade 100s as well.

STDK I will keep your screen name in a list I am compiling that seem interested.

I'm not attempting to pee in anyone's cornflakes but here's my issue with a separate social group.

The interest that I have in the 300 series was sparked mainly by Craigs great photos and tutorials here on this, the Buck forum. If all that great stuff had been limited to a social group that I had to join to see, I seriously doubt that I would have known about or taken the trouble to go there and therefore would not have developed an interest. As it is, I read 99% what's posted here and have had my interest in many other patterns roused by them just as with the 300 series.

If everyone double posted (in the social group and here also) so that all would see and know about the info then what's the point of having a separate one?

Good point.

The point would be to 1) That although "joining would be no more than excepting an invite or just subscribing to the club". 2) A place to hone your interest in a specific subject with people that can offer specific information, not to say that can't happen on the Buck site. 3) To bring a bit more comradery.
You make good points and your conversation is helpful. This is the purpose of this thread.
If scrolling through 10 to 15 new threads to have a conversation about something you may or may not find can become a little much when you can go to the club page and find a post you know you are interested in. This doesn't stop you from posting in the Buck page it extends your opptions, it doesn't limit them.

Hi,

I'm very interested. I've got quite a few 300's and am always looking for more info.

What next?

Best - Joe

Thanks Joe I'll add you to the list.

Posting a thread looking for interested parties invokes people to speak up about something they are interested when they would normally keep quiet. I would never have known about you Joe if I hadn't posted this thread.
Thank you and it's nice to know you are out there. I've been here for awhile and didn't know that there was more than just 1 or 2 of us out there...
