I have read some of the threads looking for an "in between" BK knife, so, I was giving it some thought today and wanted to see what the Beckerheads thought.

Blade: 4", fixed
Thickness: 1/8" or 3/16" (suggestions welcomed, PLEASE!)
Steel: 1095 of course
Blade Shape: ???
Here's where I get into it, I personally think the BK2 IS th perfect knife (IMO), so I lean towards the drop point, BK2 design. Thin out the width by 3/8" inch, standard Becker GEN2 handle, call it the Little Camp

or

Go with the Flat grind, drop point (Necker) add a 1/4" to the width, reduced Becker GEN2 handle, call it Bushpanion.

Sidenote: I have come to lump the term Bushcraft in with Extreme and Tactical as words I don't use anymore, unless I am poking fun at something, like Extreme Tactical Bushcraft- creating a new civilization without anyone knowing, while walking on hot coals, with just a knife and a firesteel. In my circle, it is now known as simply ETB. I mean no disrespect to anyone as "bushcraft" is a fun, viable hobby, practiced by some very skillful people. I just hate buzz words, and IMO the term bushcraft has become just that. So....

The names may suck, but I think the design is viable. I am sure someone of DawsonBob's caliber could render some concept art for us to drool over, I think this and the BK folder are going to be awesome tools for the world to have. Thanks to all. Moose :D

Moose, you've hit upon what many of us have wanted for a very long time — we called them "Tweeners" — and expected to be released at the last Blade show. Unfortunately, they weren't quite ready yet; that's the bad news. The good news is that they are already in the works. Just when they will be released, I don't know.

I haven't been involved in the effort to develop them (although I would have loved to have been, but nobody asked me — go figure), and I've refrained from speculating — or doing renders of them — just because they are already a work in progress.

For all I know, they could be shown at the upcoming Shot show in January . . . or even sooner, for all I know.

Sweet. I didn't know they had progressed that far. I knew the Eskabar was on its way from the interview with EB, but I haven't heard or read about the Tweeners. Thanks.

Go back in the previous (archive) pages — or do a search — and you'll find a lot of material on the Tweeners. That was all before the Blade show in June, so it's a little before you came aboard.

I did a search for tweeners and found some more stuff. Thanks for the heads up. So which design are you wanting, DB? Moose

What I wanted, and wanted for a long time, was one with the traditional Becker handle, about 3 3/4" to 4" long (blade length), and about 1/8" to 3/16" thick and, like you, I like the blade shape of the BK-2. That's what I wanted, way back when.

Then some information was released about the Tweeners that were actually in progress, including the fact that they would have a new handle design to go along with the new blades. At that point I decided to just wait and see what Ethan came up with. I don't know exactly what that will be, but Ethan's one heck of a designer, so I'm sure it will be good.

I know the things I would like to see, but it isn't up to me, so I'm just waiting.

Same here. Its kinda like the Eskabar, I honestly never felt like I had a good grip on the Necker. Glad to see it coming, wish it was sooner than later. LOL:p

I gave up waiting and bought a RAT RC-4.

I likes the look of the RC-3. That's kinda what prompted this thread. Honestly, I can do everything I need with my BK-2, but I have an addiction to knives, so, I invent reasons to buy them. I need a smaller knife than the BK-2 and bigger than the Necker because (insert reason here). Gotta justify it to the Warden somehow. LOL:D Moose

I can stop any time I want. I just don't want to right now.
I like the looks of the RC-3 as well, but I wanted a 4",
and this one came up in trade. Black blade with olive scales.
I'm quite pleased with it.

I don't know what you would call this blade shape but a Becker at 4-41/2 inches with the ergonomic Becker micarta scales with a blade shape like the brkt aurora. I would pre order 3 of them. In my opinion that would be the perfect in between knife.

Trade? Ok, I'm jealous. I don't have to justify trades to the Warden. :D Moose

Nice, that would be awesome. C'mon tweeners!!!:D Moose

Check out the trade forum: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=757

It's not often that you have what someone else wants, but in this case it worked out. There's new stuff showing up all the time. I have done two trades so far and both have run smoothly. Each user has feedback. Make sure you check that out as well. Getting stung IS a possibility. Both of my trades were with honest people.

I was thinking about trading one of my Camillus BK7(NIB), but I was unsure of how the trading forum went. I've been checking it out since you posted about it. Moose
