  • Definately no. It's a bad idea because it's a bad knife.

Would anyone be interested if I started a passaround of the knife I tested in this thread?

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=251880

I tried to trade it without much luck so I want to do SOMETHING with it.
Anyone interested in trying it passaround style?

Also, I've never participated in a passaround let alone started one. How would I go about this? I've read a couple and seen that there is often money involved. What for?

(This is just a question post and doesn't mean I'm definately going to do it so don't try to sign up here or anything because I won't be keeping names. I'll make a fresh post if I decide to do it.)

I've been in a couple of passarounds. The cost for me was the cost of USPS priority mail with delivery confirm. This afforded me the opportunity of actually playing with the knife to test it's mettle.
These passarounds have worked well and I really liked it.
I've also seen passarounds that cost ~ $40 then there is a lottery to see who keeps the knife. These have been on expensive knives. The $40 ones mention a California lottery system. I don't know what that is, though.
Might be a good chance to get your blade out there to someone that may like to try it out then buy it from you.
I'd be up for this passaround (not the lottery) just to see the case. I haven't bought or handled a case in many a year.

Tom

Since you already own the knife, there is no need for any money to be involved. If you are willing, you can simply create a list of people and start sending the knife around. You should define an amount of time per person, such as three days or maybe a week. You should also limit the amount of people on the list to make the passaround a reasonable amount of time. That is what I have known as a traditional passaround.

The passarounds I have held are a bit different. They involve more expensive knives that I don't own. The passarounds allow for ten people to try the knife for one week. Each participant contributes their share of the purchase price of the knife. Once the passaround is complete, each participant is given a number (their order in the passaround) and then we set a date for the California Lottery Daily 3 drawing. The person that matches the first digit in the afternoon drawing wins the knife.

See the links in my sig for more info on these passarounds.

The other thing is I oculdn't find a picture or the spec on the knife you mention. If you put a link to that info, that would probably help. Also slip joint probably get more attention in the traditional slipjoint folder forum.

( not that it wouldn't here but you might wnt to cross post to that forum if you haven't)

I wouldn't have a problem with that except it really looks like I'm not going to do the passaround.
Why don't you email me directly if you're interested and make me some sort of buy/trade offer on it and maybe I'll send it to you?
