Like the looks of some. Do these knives come with sheaths? I didnt see any listed or any options for them.

Looking at a Rodent 3, 4 or 5.

Whats your take on this series and which one is your favorite?

No sheaths, but there are tons of quality maker's here on BF that will make you one.

Haven't tried them yet, but I do have a Rodent Soluton on the way, with an AzWelke sheath already here waiting, and soon to grab a Skystorm Leather IWB for it.

The no sheath thing seems weird, when you first start buying Busse, Swamprat, and Scrapyard knives (they are all "family knives").

But everyone expects or wants different sheath options, leather, kydex, tactical, bushcraft, etc, etc. Then there are people who buy many different versions of the same knife. They will only carry or use one at a time, so the added expense of a sheath with every knife, many that won't ever see use or a sheath makes it cheaper for collectors.

There are lots of great makers that specialize in kydex and leather for Busse kin knives.

i would get a r3 and a RMD
and if you like kydex Eli from Godspeedtatical is top notch
for leather i would recommend armoralleather

As Bigfattyt stated. We do not offer sheaths for many of the models we make, for the simple reason that everyone has a different taste in what they want. Plus there are many guys out there that make them way better than we ever could. Lots of great guys around here that can make you whatever you want.
The Rodent series is a great line of blades. You can't go wrong with any of them. We can help you out a little better if we have an idea as to what tasks you are looking to do with your knife. Let me know if you need any help.

Hmm, well I don't need the knife I just really like the way they look. I have an ESEE Izula II, 3, 4 now along with a Fallkniven F1, SOG Seal Pup Elite, Cold Steel SRK, couple MORAs, BK2, LMF II and a few other low quality knives.

The one I carry the most with me and around the farm/woods is the ESEE 3. Like that size knife.

Now I have been a knife buyer for a little while but am really a knife novice. I really, really like the way the F1 cuts through everything but not for sure if that is because of the convex blade grind or something else. If it is the blade grind that is influencing that easy cutting on the F1, I'd would say I'd like to go with the RDS.

If the convex grind is not the reason for its performance I think I'd rather go with the Rodent 3 or 4. Guess I need to look at the blade length on my other ones and see if there is a size nitch I can cover with one of those three.

So if I am understanding this correctly, these are not sold through retailers and you order off the web site for one that is made to order, correct? I like that I can select the colors on blade and handle.

Open to recommendations. Like I said I don't necessarily need one for any specific purpose. Again I just really like the way they look and want one.

Thanks for the help guys!

We do make each knife to order. We do not have any retail dealers. You can on occasion catch us at a show like Knob Creek or Blade Show. Even then it is people from the shop that are the ones selling the knives. Once in a while (watch the forums) we will announce that we are going to be in a particular city and will bring some knives to sell. For example Easton Pennsylvania and Anchorage Alaska. I would say that for an everyday carry I would recommend the Rodent 3. It is a great little blade that does not take up a lot of room on the belt.

The Fallkniven is cutting so well because of geometry and low friction.

You can make a convex knife that will cut like a laser or a convex knife that won't cut butter.

Flat grind, saber, scandi, and hollow grind are all subject to physics. Thinner blade, thinner grind, thinner edge will out cut thicker.

What you get With Swamprat, Scrapyard and Busse knives is the best warranty, and customer service, coupled with great steels, and fantastic heat treat.

They hold their value well. And will survive abuse. If they don't, they will replace them.

Plus, they are great people at the Busse family knives group. And that is perhaps the most important thing. You are buying knives from great people.

Since you commented on the ESEE line of knives I will throw my 2 cents in here. Most here know I am a large fan of the ESEE knives (a lot of folks around here are) but the Swamp Rats are better in just about every way short of price. If I were you I would snag up a RMD, put the RMD with your Izula 2 and you will be set for anything you could possibly encounter.

Thanks guys, I'll do more looking this weekend at all the specs a decide between the et I will find some youtube videos on them to help with that decision.

Really appreciate all the help and looking forward to getting one ordered Sunday evening.

Hindsight, great to see someone who's into providing knives to the public on here hearing what people say about their products and responding to questions people have.

Look forward to getting mine. Just worried I'll end up having to collect all of them like these ESEEs I am in the process of getting now, lol! I am betting that will happen too now.

Thanks!

I'll start looking for a kydex sheath with firesteel holder on it.

Don't know whats up but the Rodent 3 is calling my name. I like 'em both but for whatever reason I really like the looks of this one over the others although I like them all.

Anyone know what I am looking at realistically on the time frame to get one in? Not in a hurry just curious.

And that, is saying something.

I will also add my 2 cents.

I'm a SRKW fanboy. There are not many knife companies that could get this kind of following and respect from me. There are plenty of capable and true hard use knives out there, but for me, only SRKW delivers a product that has such a combination of aesthetics, utility, ergonomics and a truly special steel (even if the base isn't that special). What Jerry Busse could achieve with 52100 is fantastic and really deserves the rebranding as SR101. It sharpens easily, keep an edge for a darn long time, and will resist being ran over with a tank (or chopping a car in two). But to be sure we're on the same page; SR101 is not (far from it) a stainless steel. If used, it will show. That is to take into consideration of you're going for a satin blade.

My first direct order at the Swamp was a RMD and a R3. The RMD hasn't seen as much usage as it should, but the R3 has been in my pocket, in a KSF pocketsheath for 8 months now. I go out of my way to find reasons to use that little jewel. It has pried, cut used carpet on a ceramic tiling floor, scrapped goo, cut onions and mushrooms. I love that blade so much that I'm thinking of getting a spare; not because I fear of damaging it, mind you, but because when I'll be old (and I have to face it, it's coming faster than I envisioned when I was a kid), I want my son to be able to carry one too. I hope to bring the one I have to the grave, after all, there should be things to pry, cut on ceramic tiling floor, scrape, onions or mushrooms in hell.

ONLY downside for me (if you except the price tag, cause you get what you pay for) is the delivery time that can go a bit out of hands. From 2 weeks, to 4 months, depending of what and when you order. However, as your card won't be charged as long as the knife or knives aren't ready to ship, it gave me some times to sorts the funding.

That was my 0.02$

I would say that 52100 is a very special steel. It is often over looked by many people in favor of other tool steels such as O1 or A2. In fact I like 52100 so much (I have had the chance to use many customs in this steel and it is my favorite of all the tool steels) that the fact they change the name of it to SR101 actually kind of bothers me.

if u need some reviews check out the reviews on my blog down below
i have a review on the rodent solution and RMD
hope that helps

so... SR101 is really 52100??? Just asking because just bought a Rodent Rucki, and wasn't aware. What constitutes a re-branding?
