Interesting 301 Box

I've had this box for years, and have often wondered about it. It's the same size as all the other two piece 301 boxes out there. But, it's white with black print, it has a slick surface, and has an embossed woven cloth texture. I lost a lot of records some years ago, so I don't know what knife it came with, which basically means there aren't a lot of clues to go with the box.

Anyone know the when and why of this thing?

That is one of the 1st boxes that the Schrade made Buck knives came in. I have a 2nd edition Schrade made Buck 301that I bought at a local auction with that box. You don't see them very often. I have been on the hunt for them for quite a few years.

It is indeed the box for the first version Schrade made Buck 301 and 303. To the best of my knowledge, second versions were not packaged in this box; however, I would bet that some excess inventory of these boxes may have been used for the second versions until they were gone.

The early Schrade made Buck Stockman pocketknives are easier to find than the boxes - now you need a first edition 301. OH

Thanks for the info. I always assumed all Schrade made Bucks came in this box.

I have found the Camillus 301 boxes, were almost the same as the first Schrade 301 boxes.
The Camillus box is an off-white colour box.
The 1966 Schrade 301 in post #6, is the white box.
I can post some photos, if any one would like to see them, side by side. Ken

This is all of the early 301's by Schrade, Camillus and Buck.

Note the Camilus box "STOCKMAN MODLE NO. 301"
The 301 is closer to the side of the box.
The Schrade box "STOCKMAN No 301" is more centred, using the small "o".
Paperwork is not the same for the Schrade and Camilus knives.
