Here's something interesting I think. This is the backside of a Brian Yellowhorse 532 with a pocket clip.

Man, those screws must be really short.

As long as the the portion that's threaded into the bolster is 1.5 times the diameter of the threads, then it will have "full strength"; in other words, they don't need to be but about 2.5mm deep into the bolster.

I remember that rule now, from a bolting class I had to take one.

Interesting. I had not heard that ratio before. Sounds like something a "machinist" would know.

It does look like ironwood. 532's are one of my favorite Buck patterns:D

joe-bob, that is very interesting. Does that mean the diameter of the threaded part of the bolt?
