What are some knives with interesting mechanisms? Something other than Linerlocks, framelocks, lockbacks, button locks, compression locks, spine locks, axis locks, and flippers. I only know of a few off-hand - The CRKT Glide-Lock, the RAM lock, Kershaw's Overdrive mechanism, etc.

I had a keychain LONG ago that is hard to explain.

you pull up a bar, slide it down, press blade up and lock it in place.

very cheap but very handy. Must of been 20 years ago. No idea what it was or how to look for it.

Axial locks on Lone Wolfs come to mind, along with practically anything out of G&G Hawk Custom knives.

The Kershaw speed bump (1595) uses a stud lock, very strange.

Yup, I have one of those. American version instead if the still-available Chinese version. The stud lock is decent. Not the strongest, but it's pretty cool

Lever lock, ring lock, clasp lock. Off the top of my head....

Mine is also an older USA made one, the deployment lock is broken and has been since I got it but the stud lock is the cool feature. Its got such a deep recurve I find it impractical for most tasks, including EDC, but I use it in the garden all the time and for pruning cut flowers I pick for my wife.

The CRKT Hole In One is a cool odd knife. I think a lot of people dismissed it due to its 420J2 blade, which is a shame. Mine has held up very well over the couple years I've had it and is perfectly decent for edc tasks. Sadly discontinued by CRKT. They still offer the Snap Lock with the same basic mechanism, but I don't like it nearly as well as the HIO.

This is about the best vid of it:

edit: They made two versions, the one in the vid and one without all the holes in the blade (which is the one I have).

CRKT made a Michael Walker button lock model where button was on the blade. It locked the knife open and shut. They also marketed an Ed Van Hoy Snap Lock model.

I have an old advertisment knife with a different blade shape that works the same way.
Smith & Wesson also had a couple larger variations in the 80's
