I found these, they're sold already so I hope the links aren't a problem.
The first, which I call "inb4 assassins creed". Apparently piggybacks aren't a new thing. I found this to be neat and practical although there seem to be even more compartments and I have no idea what purpose they serve.

The following example of which I've seen similar. I've often theorized these would be extremely difficult for pinpoint work and not very practical. I'm wondering if there was more to the covered grip and possibly some straps (there look to be attachment points) because the bar used doesn't look very useful for anything but holding on to. Maybe it was covered? I have no idea. Thinking about wielding this makes my wrist ache.

Just some interesting stuff to look at I thought might be appreciated.

Very cool pieces, thanks for sharing. I too think the pats might have been something of novelty weapons. They just scream impractical. It could be that I just do not understand their use of course.

The karskara is another thing again.

The Pata is designed to be worn over a bracer, and the muscles of the forearm are providing the control. The bar in the palm is more for stabilizing the blade and pulling it back if you actually hit anything. That is the sum total of what I remember about it from a book with a section on Kalaripayat and Indian martial arts. The Indians had some absolutely amazing edged weapons, from the fantastical and impractical to the "Oh my god, if I had to go to war with edged weapons THIS is the one." I think Gene Roddenberry went thumbing through an Indian arms picture book whenever he needed to add to the Klingon armory.
