My daughter got me a just released book on the history of Mokena, the town where I have lived for the last 56 years. Lots of photos of buildings I can remember. One thing I found particularly interesting, is that the first "residents" were the Potawatomi Indians, just like the Potawatomi Necker. Another thing is one of the stops on the "Underground Railroad" was on my street, the house is still there. Lots to read, brings back great memories of growing up here.

As a lover of history I would love it. Very cool. I'm betting that you will be looking at your neighborhood with a brand new set of eyes in the future.

I already have a book on the history of Will county, the county I live in, but it just kind of breezed over Mokena. The best part of that book was finding out my great grandfather, on my Dad`s side, was a blacksmith near Grant Park.

That is cool.

A bit of trivia for frontiertom, or anyone interested in breweries. Two blocks from where I live, right on Wolf Road, which was only about 300 feet from where I was raised, there used to be a brewery.from 1891 to 1933, it was the Bowman Dairy (they used the area where I was raised for a parking area for their wagons, and later trucks, before the house was built.) In 1933 untill 1941 it was the Mitchel Brewery. After that it became a wallpaper factory, which was the final business there. The building was torn down in 2004.

I like stories like that. People tend to forget that a lot went on before they were around. The building you are describing was used for 113 years! very cool.
