Tonight I watched a one hour documentary on swords. It was on History Channel International, quite a new channel, and it was quite interesting. I believe the program was in a series called "World Conflict" or something similar. It included a history of swords, information on the advantages (in combat) of various types of swords, information on sword-making, and various other things. I found it quite informative.
While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I wish there had been information on the damascus swords of arabian swordsmen, which have always intrigued me.
I hope the educational channels will make some documentaries on knives in the future (knives are certainly deserving, considering their crucial role in human history).
