Hi there, I spotted this here auction on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2272513613&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
And thought it was unusual. At least, it's not often I see bowies made of 1/2 inch stock and weighing 2.5 pounds.
I thought I'd like to post the link so people could see it but thought this may be close to advertising without a license so I did try to check with info@bladeforums.com but the email bounced so if this post does'nt fall within the guidelines perhaps a moderator can remove it. I don't know the ebayer at all. Then again, maybe nobody will be interested anyway lol. Thanks, Rod.

Half-inch thick and 440C? That's ridiculous, IMHO. Our own Himalayan Imports makes a bowie of half-inch stock, but it's forged differentially heat-treated 5160 and actually very usable, though certainly heavy. That ebay knife doesn't look to me to be very usable....

maybe its just me but it almost looks photoshoped or something. it just doesnt look right maybe its the cork background

The sheath is a loose fitting kydex sheath with a belt clip. It was designed "loose fitting" because the maker figured that the knife was so heavy, it would never fall out.
Then why make a sheath at all? A big brown paper bag would be even looser. :D

It is somebody's interpretation of the well known 19th century Chavalier Bowie knife. The original will set you back a few houses, and several ex-wives.

And, this one will set you back in traction, from carrying the heavy mofo around! :D

Just for fun and comparison......
here is a link to a similar piece by one of our own:

Scroll down to the bottom (Ironwood Beast).......which knife would I choose? No contest on quality and style, and I bet the reserve is close to J's price. Whatever.

Not afilliated, just amazed sometimes.

Philistines..from my Reader's Digest Great Illustrated Dictionary "a boorish and uncultured person, especially one who is proud of his ignorance and actively antagonistic to intellectual or artistic matters." It even has a little picture of a Philistine being boorish..
That's a joke, of course, DON'T come after me lol.
