To me the new ASHBM handles are so nicely contoured and the rear grip area so secure for chopping that I decided to experiment a little and order one with the smoothest combination of materials I could think of for maximum comfort—hand smoothed black paper with solid polished pins. Gotta say, I love the feel of this knife and how it rocks fluidly back and forth in hand. Security from the handle contours and rear talon is still very solid.

Will; hate to say it, but i do envy you this one...Congrats, buddy.

WOW! What a Gorgeous satin beauty!!!

I've been on the hand shaped/smoothed kick too (I actually think it's your fault not Jaxx's for once ;) ), and I love how that smooth finish feels on both G10 and on Micarta!

Congratulations Will, she's a real looker!!!!! :D

Nice. Good lookin' too.

Will, I have a older Graham Diplomat that is smooth BPM and solid pins carried IWB. One of the reasons that I love it is that it will spin and dance in hand right up until you grip hard...then it sticks just enough to securely give the business until you lighten the grip. It's one of my favorite non Bussekin fixed blade users. Hopefully, yours is similar in feel to your liking! :)

Thanks to all for the warm words--fun to share with you guys.

That's a VERY accurate description of how this thing feels in hand, Jaxx. Doesn't stick in your hand until you want it too, and then it locks tight. I remember how much PeterPHWS liked his BWM LE after he sanded smooth the black paper--great ergos.

Will, that is a gorgeous knife.

But it doesn't appear that you have chopped anything with it, so it would seem that your experiment is not yet complete. :D

So true. Bravado has asked to borrow it for testing, but he's such an animal...

Maybe you could get Cobalt to throw it a few thousand times, and split countless cords of wood?
