In defense of Jeff, he's a nice guy, who makes a nice knife at a reasonable price. There is an article about him in a Knives Illustrated from a couple of years back. I have one of his first tacticals. a rock solid brute of a knife. No matter how it looks it can't replace the original. Ernest doesn't get the credit he deserves for the popularity of tactical knives today. My 2 cents.
 
Round 2. I recently picked up an old Johnny Stout. An exact copy of the benchmade CQC7. When I showed it to Ernest he just laughed. Imitation is the sincerest form.... (you know the rest)
 
I think it is a very tough area to come up with something truly new and original. Seems to me there are great designers and great makers, but very few people that are both.

There really is nothing new under the sun...

That's the nicest Farid I've ever seen. Looks like he's gotten alot better with precision and finish... Of course its still basically a CQC-6 on a serious weight gain program!
