Made an interesting find at an auction tonight, a Cryst-o-lite glass knife. Judging from the box I'd say it's from the early sixties and is in amazingly good condition, there are only a few very small chips out of the edge, and they're all either near the tip or the handle. The blade won't shave cleanly but it will catch a few hairs, and slices paper decently. I haven't yet had a chance to do any real testing of it, but I'm already impressed with its slicing ability considering its rather thick edge geometry. I'm currently without my digital camera, but I will take photos as soon as I can and make them available to anyone who wants to post them.
Dimensions: Blade: Length-4.75 inches
width-1.375 inches
Thickness-0.25 inches
Handle:Length-3.5 inches
Width-1.25 inches
Thickness-0.5 inches

Yes, that's it exactly. The box is slightly different, but the knife is the same in every detail. Does anybody know how long these were produced? Or have any idea of a current value, I'm guessing the $20 price on that link isn't too far off. It may be the most impractical knife I've ever seen, but I certainly will enjoy having it in my collection.

I found another link for what looked like the same item for about $40. Evidently, enough of them show up in old warehouses for jobbers to make a few bucks unloading them. Even as a collector's item, they could probably serve nicely cutting cake and pie!

I found them by searching for "Cryst-o-lite glass knife" on http://ixquick.com
