Just got a clam packaged RJ Martin Tactical from a friend. She picked it up at Walmart.
I was comparing it to the standard RJ Martin folder. It appears identical in everyway including the steel. The only
exception is the size. It has a 3.65" blade and a 5" handle instead of the regular sized model with the 3" blade and 4" handle.
Another interesting item to note is that on the standard size model, the blade is marked "1987".
On the large model from Walmart it says "1986WM". I usually don't do Chinese made knives, but I'll try it out for a few days.

3cr steel, I'll bet. If it's 8cr, they might actually get business from me for the first time in ages.

There was a clam pack I saw at Wally tonight that came with 2 models of no name. The steel listed on the package said one was 3Cr and the other 4Cr.
Avoided them and I saw plenty of the RJ Martins on the shelf.

One of my first Kershaws was an RJI (model 1985) and it's my favorite EDC to this day, despite having so many "better" options to choose from. I don't like the look of the new model(s) quite as much, but I'm glad to see there is still a relationship between Kershaw and Martin.

I'm at wallyworld looking at one as I type this. I can confirm the steel listed on the packaging is 8CR13Mov. I think I'll pull the trigger on one and check it out. Stay tuned.

What's the MRSP and model #? Might be worth a buy if it is 8Cr, Kershaw does a good job on theirs for the price, their China made budget knives are among the best bang for the buck on the market.

Thanks for the pictures. That is a pretty sweet knife!
