Since the Search feature is not working for me I went back 1 year and reviewed the Reviews and Testing forum and then went and reviewed all of Rob Simonich's forum (since he's one of the makers).

Couldn't find a thing, m88.

Same thing for me smoothbone. I first tried the search feature but it wasn't working. I was so excited when I first saw this website, but then I'm just a newbie to the wonderful world of knives, and decided I needed expert advice, thus my post. :)

This is the link to the FAQ, where the dimensions can be found:

http://www.hideawayknife.com/faq.php

To quote:

"Edge length varies some based on size, who grinds them, etc. I want to keep them under 2" in length. For example, the straights in my collection vary between 1.94" and 1.55". The blade length of some of the curvys and hybrids sometimes can go over 2" though because of the curves, so if that poses a legal boundary keep that in mind."

What I need to hear here is someone's impartial assessment of this product. Hopefully someone owns and/or has tried one.

snniifffff.... yep, smells like SPAM

:(  :grumpy:

Geez, can't a newbie ask around for feedback without being suspected of spamming?

FWIW, and as you can see, this is my first post (READ: newbie posting). I have been around for 3 weeks now, trying to soak up what's been written and said, but never saw anything in the archives about this particular knife that caught my fancy. That's why I am seeking the experts' / veterans' / old timers' advice.

Now if this was discussed before, just point me to the correct thread like I said in my very first post.... no need to be....

:barf: :D

Reviews have been very very good on it. I was just informed mine is in the mail, so I'll have impressions in a few weeks. I'll tell you that I considered a bunch of little fixed blades before I settled on the Hideaway. What won me over was the fact that I could cut with it, but then release my hold and manipulate things with my fingers, but the knife would stay hanging on my hand and I could just cut again when I had to. Seems like it'll be a very useful feature.

Welcome aboard, m88!! Your post's fine and I'm real interested in the results.

I posted a request over on Practical Tactical, too. We'll see if anyone over there has any info.

Joe, thanks for the reply. My search function is still not working :( , and scrolling through a year's worth of posts wasn't fun. I've read the reviews on their website. Do you know of any other reviews available.

Thanks SmoothBone. All the reviews I've read so far are off their website, that is why I am seeking an impartial 3rd party review of this product. So far, I've found none.

Regarding that search function, mine's not working properly too. Is it a forum server error?

Hi Joe. I for one will be interested in your feedback. Keep us posted. I'm just a newbie, so I really don't know what makes for a good self defense knife, and self defense is my primary motivation in looking for a knife.

Sid, thanks for that link! Lots of info there.

Allen, too! Interesting how people that are not into knives as much as this group think it's pricey!! . . . this group thinks it's very reasonable!

My straight 4.75 with trainer/video is on order! :D

88 - NP. :)

Smooth - :) Yup, and yet, "that group" (of which I'm also a proud member) will not bat an eyelash to spend that much on a flashlight.

I also have a trainer, trainer sheath, and SouthNarc's DVD on-order as well. Figure I should lern how to use the thing properly!
