Hi Guys,

I was searching the web for Buck info and came across this information from AG Russell's site. Of course I had to try it out for myself as there has been a lot of discussion on this subject from time to time here. Out came my EDC Tempest and a new in the box 889. Both of these knives passed this test method......I think all of you should go and buy at least 3-4 of each of these Buck knives......;)

My Tempest hasn't been right since jumping in the pool with the kids last summer--sniff.

This last total oil drenching has brought it closer than ever to normal function--but not quite---at least I got it cheap to begin with---lolololol

Hi OMBEEG,

That knife should be able to go for a swim and still work!!!!! Send it back to Buck and have it fixed or replaced!!!!! It's to good of an EDC for you to not have it performing 100%!!!!

Interesting:thumbup:

Conducted these tests on both of my Alpha Dorados.

The basic 270 in birchwood scales passed with flying colours, first rate lock-up.

The 271 in 154 with camo scales failed miserably. The lock on this is frankly hopeless, even a gentle spine whack folds it up.It can only be trusted if you take a screwdriver and move the lock more to the right. Not too practical outdoors:grumpy: The other one is a gem though.
