BANANA!

While others are fiercely debating the ethic of the lock strength testing videos, i bring you something that i consider more light hearted.

Couple of days ago i was carrying my Ultimate Hunter, and during lunchtime i used it to cut off a banana near the "root" so that i can peel it. It was a quick action, open, cut, close and the knife is back in my pocket without thinking. It was a light cut and some small amount of "banana fluid" were left on top of the blade, which I forgot to wipe. I put my knife away when i got home and forgot about it for 2 days and moved on to my XHP Lawman, XHP Recon 1, XHP Code 4 rotations.

When i opened the ultimate hunter today, the area where i cut banana with became light bluish/purple-ish color. The first reaction is to wipe it off thinking that it might be dried banana juice but it's not going away. That's when i realized that it has developed a layer of patina from the cut. It actually gave it a kinda cool battle scar look so i decided not to polish it off. Plus i did not see any pitting or raised spot associated with rusting, so i'm certain it's benign, just like bluing.

So yeah, for those who are interested in patina-ing your XHP blade, feel free to "banana" it.
