Next weekend there will be a big gun show here in town and I will not miss it. I am a collector of big bore pistols and antique automatics (guns) as well as a knife and Japanese sword fancier. I was just going over my collections and I realized that good commercial and custom knives can be more expensive than guns in general. I just recently got a mint NOS Smith & Wesson 29-3 4 inch blued .44 magnum for less than $500, I mean MINT! That would not get me much in the way of a nice custom from one of the master smiths around and would barely get me a nice big Strider commercial. I can get a number of really nice handguns and rifles for what a plain jane custom would go for and the old classic autos and revolvers are cheap by comparison. Just an interesting thought.

That may be true, but, generally speaking, guns are a MUCH better investment if you anticipate a return. Particularly if you USE your guns and knives. JMO.

That is so true. I find that I have guns that I can actually sell for more than I paid. I have a near mint P38 AC42 with all the Nazi markings and matched serials that I shoot every so often and have not diminished its value at all and has actually gone up in value. I dont think that would be the case with any knife other than a Moran or original Loveless or perhaps Fowler and Pendray, few others. I have a Luger and a Broomhandle that is the same way. I find that Glocks hold there value well too even if you shoot the heck out of them. After all they are almost impossible to wear out.

I am sure that you are correct, but you are talking production guns against custom knives. Even if the guns have been customized in some way, it is still not the same thing. If these guns were custom made, I wonder what they would cost.
